What is Discovery?

  • Discovery is a three-day spiritual renewal retreat.

  • Discovery "Encounter" weekends are for high school students between the ages of 15 to 18 and grades 10-12th.

  • The weekend provides an opportunity to learn more about Christian faith.

  • You will experience Christian love and support from a team ready to serve you.

  • You will have a chance to further develop an existing faith in Jesus Christ.

  • The point is to inspire, challenge and equip you for a closer relationship with Jesus.

  • The weekend will also call you to Christian action at home, church, school, and community.

 

See below for Candidate and Sponsor applications. Both forms and payment are needed to secure your spot on the weekend. You will receive confirmation from the Discovery Registrar.

"At first, I didn't know what I was getting into or what I was signing up for, all I knew is that I was going to be surrounded and lifted up by good Christian people. My mom always says, you are who you hang out with, and I knew I would be in good company, despite not knowing what to expect. After I went through encounter, hearing everyone's testimonies, I was hooked. You leave so high that you are already looking forward to how you can spread gods words as well as serve and attend the next one. I now love serving and seeing the Holy Spirit work through people. I know what to expect and love seeing the transformation of people through one weekend. I encourage everyone to go through this weekend even if they have doubts I promise you won't regret it!"

What Happens on a weekend?

  • You'll spend time in worship, prayer, fellowship, and discussion.

  • You'll experience the love of God through prayers and acts of service from a loving support community.

  • You'll have the chance to grow spiritually.

  • You will be given opportunities to develop who you already are in Christ.  

  • You'll hear talks that focus on the needs of maturing young adults, the message of the gospel, and the friendship/example of Jesus Christ.

  • Each day speakers present topics with life examples, followed by reflection and discussion of how these messages can encourage your personal faith in Jesus.

How can you join a Discovery weekend?

  • Weekends take place at Camp Illiana in Washington, Indiana.

  • The cost is $75 to attend ($85 for team members).

  • Scholarships are available if needed.

  • In order to attend you must have an emerging or existing relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • You must have someone sponsor you who has attended a fourth day (Discovery) weekend.
